Sir,

I am etc. to request you to

inform Mr. Seo. Henderson that in

connection with the exhibit being

organized by the Govt. of Hong Kong

at the BritishEmpire Exhibition, a

question has arisen with regard to

certain ornaments of local manufacture

in which kingfisher wings are used.

It is desired to exhibit the process

of manufacture at the exhibition

and to place the articles on sale,

and I am to enquire whether any diffi-

culty will be raised in regard to the

issue of the necessary permit for

the importation of the small quantity

of plumage required for this purpose.

In this connection it is understood

that the kingfishers in question are

used as an article of food by the

Chinese apart from any sale value
